Mike won an award for both the film and the advocacy campaign attached to it that included his cross-Canada film tour to every major cancer centre in the country.

This documentary is where Mike’s whole storytelling journey began! Produced in partnership with Aaron Bryant of Hands On Films this film was filmed on the first young adult cancer survivor trip that Mike facilitated with the charity he founded Survive & Thrive Cancer Programs. This film lead to a 40 day cross-Canada road trip to every major cancer centre along with hundreds of screenings around the world since 2010. This film played a large role in raising awareness about the unique needs that face this segment of the cancer survivor population.

Synopsis: Follow a group of young adult cancer survivors on a week long kayaking expedition down one of the deepest canyons in the continental US. It is an extraordinary journey full of incredible emotional and physical challenges as well as strength, humour, beauty and a rare insight into the lives of one of cancer care’s most under-served and unrecognized populations.
